I want to talk to you today about finding your passion in life. Look, life is short. You know, we’re already well into the first month of 2017. Now I’m reaching an age where I go, “Oh my God, I remember when I was launching [my business] in the year 2000. It seems like yesterday.” Well you know, that’s 17 years ago. Time flies. It moves on all of us.
The one thing that is constant is change. The world moves on. Time moves. Now we can choose whether or not we move with it, but time moves and you’re not going to get a do-over. This isn’t a dress rehearsal for the second time you live on this earth. I mean, I’m not one of the people that’s big in reincarnation. I guess if you’re one of those, maybe you think there’s a do-over. But I don’t believe we’ve got a do-over on this earth. It’s our shot here—it is our time, and it moves by on you quickly.
Time moves. We can choose whether or not we move with it, but you’re not going to get a do-over.
You need to find what you are truly passionate about in life. Most people spend their whole life just enduring their work. They hate it. They can’t stand it. They live for Friday and then they dread Monday. Well you know, I’m here to tell you that’s no way to go through life. Find what you’re passionate about, find something you enjoy, find something that makes you excited to get up every day, and then pursue that. You know, you’ve got to go through a lot of process to get to where you want to, but start by volunteering with something you love and then meet the right people, ask the right questions and try to get yourself to a place where how you earn your income is something you would do even if there was no money attached to it. I’m telling you, living a life where you’re passionate, where you’re excited and you get after it, that’s a great way to go through life.
Most of us chase money until time runs out. Well find a way to get paid, maybe even if it’s not as much as you were making doing something else, but it’s something you love. It’s something you believe in and something you want to do.
I’ll see you at the top, because the bottom sure is crowded!
