Too many people in life think, If I study this, get this course, do that, then I’m going to be prepared. I’ve got news for you—you’re never totally prepared to be a leader. That is a myth of life. Leadership is a day-by-day personal development where you go get better, and I believe one of the biggest things is you’ve got to become a leader way before you’ve got a title.

When I think back on my career, I developed the relationships, the communication skills, all the things to lead—to get things done before I had a title. Leadership is influence, the ability to influence people, to win people over and to move things to action.
