I believe that the greatest thing you’ve got to have is inner peace. Norman Vincent Peale said, “A peaceful mind generates power,” where when the storms of life come around, you’ve got a depth to you. It’s probably the greatest thing because it also helps you be happy.
A lot of people say, “When I get here, when I get that done, when I pay off this bill, when this happens… I’m going to be happy.” Well the truth is, if you’re waiting for circumstances to make you happy, you’re never going to be happy. There’s always going to be some circumstance—it isn’t lined up perfectly. You’ve got to develop personal, inner peace that surpasses what’s going on at that given moment, and I believe that depth of character gives you the ability to get up every day and say, “You know what? I’m going to have the best day that I possibly can and do something great.”
